Abstract

Insomnia is a sleep disorder that is often experienced by the elderly. Sleep is a brain process that is needed by a person to function properly.  Sleep does not mean a busy routine, sleep is important for health, emotional function, mental and safety. With increasing age there is a decrease in sleep hours, the need for sleep decreases from infancy to old age.  The average healthy adult needs 7 hours of sleep at night.  Sleep deprivation in the elderly has an effect on physical, cognitive abilities, and psychological disorders. Based on a preliminary study, it was found that 23 elderly people experienced insomnia. Symptoms that often arise are difficulty sleeping at night, irritability, depression, anxiety, ulcers and difficulty start sleeping. One alternative to overcome insomnia is elderly exercise, this exercise will stimulate the HPA Axis mechanism to secrete melatonin, then from the hypothalamus it will be forwarded to the pituitary for the formation of beta endorphins and encephalins which can cause a relaxed condition.  This study is a pre-experimental design research with the type of research "One-Group Pretest-post test". The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of elderly exercise on the insomnia scale. Elderly who experience severe insomnia, 10 (43%) elderly who experience moderate insomnia, and 8 (35%) elderly who experience mild insomnia.

Abstract

Installation of intravenous access in pediatric patients is a challenge. The DIVA scale is one of the predictive tools for determining difficult intravenous access. The purpose of this literature review is to analyze research articles on the application of the DIVA scale to determine difficult intravenous access in the installation of intravascular access in pediatric patients. This literature search was carried out on electronic databases such as Pubmed, Proquest and Google Scholar. Articles were selected according to inclusion and exclusion criteria. Inclusion criteria are articles published in 2016 – 2021, articles can be accessed in full text with the subject of the DIVA scale in pediatrics. Based on a literature review of 3 articles, it was found that the DIVA scale can be used to detect difficult veins in the installation of intravenous access in pediatric patients. Implementing the DIVA scale is beneficial in reducing the amount of effort required for the installation of intravenous access. The conclusion from this literature study is that the DIVA scale can be modified and validated according to where the DIVA scale is used. DIVA score 4 increases failure of intravenous access in the first trial in pediatric patients.

Abstract

Chronic renal failure is a progressive and irreversible renal function disorder in which the body's ability fails to maintain metabolism and fluid and electrolyte balance, causing uremia (retention of urea and other nitrogenous wastes in the blood). In Indonesia, the increase in patients with this disease has reached 20%. The data and information center of the Indonesian Hospital Association (PDPERSI) states that the number of patients with chronic kidney failure is estimated at around 50 people per one million population. Hemodialysis is very important for patients with chronic kidney failure because hemodialysis is one of the measures that can prevent death. However, hemodialysis cannot cure or restore kidney disease because it is unable to compensate for the loss of metabolic activity of kidney or endocrine diseases carried out by the kidneys and the impact of kidney failure and therapy on the patient's quality of life. Objective to determine the quality of life of chronic kidney failure patients undergoing hemodialysis. Using a literature review study method from scientific journals with keyword guidance. Scientific journals that were selected were 6 journals, each journal representing one quality of life of chronic kidney failure patients undergoing hemodialysis. The quality of life of patients with chronic kidney failure are mostly in the good or high category with many factors affecting the quality of life of patients with chronic failure who are undergoing hemodialysis. Based on the analysis that has been carried out, it shows that the quality of life of patients with chronic failure at the good or high category level the biggest influencing factors are family support and self-efficacy.
